As winter settles in across Southern Maine, food insecurity becomes a greater challenge for many local families. On January 14th, Garden Guys Landscaping will be hosting our fifth annual community food drive to help support neighbors in need during the winter months.
This effort is made possible by the generosity of our clients, team members, and community members who choose to participate each year.
Why We Run a Winter Food Drive
Winter can be a difficult time for individuals and families facing food insecurity.
Higher heating costs, reduced seasonal work, and limited access to transportation can all make it harder to keep pantries stocked. Our annual food drive is one way we can help address those challenges locally and support organizations doing important work in our area.
How the Food Drive Works
The food drive will take place on January 14th and will support a local food pantry serving the Greater Portland area.

Participation is simple:
- Non-perishable food items can be donated
- Monetary donations may also be accepted, depending on the pantry’s needs
- Donations can be made during scheduled service visits or coordinated drop-off locations
Additional details and reminders will be shared as the date approaches.
What to Donate
While all contributions are appreciated, food pantries often have the greatest need for:
- Canned proteins and soups
- Pasta, rice, and other shelf-stable grains
- Peanut butter and nut butters
- Shelf-stable meals
- Baby food and formula, if unopened and unexpired

Items should be unopened and within expiration dates.
How You Can Help
You can support the food drive by:
- Donating items on January 14th
- Sharing information about the drive with others
- Participating in any matching or supplemental donation efforts that may be offered
Every contribution helps support families in our community during the winter season.
Thank You for Supporting the Community
We’re grateful to everyone who continues to support this effort year after year. Community-driven initiatives like this are only possible because of the people we work with throughout Southern Maine.
